The Nine Cuts
Nine worlds seeded from history’s worst moments. Nine relics holding them together. One man standing between order and collapse.
And Kane Kurosawa didn’t ask for any of this.
The World between Worlds
Thousands of years ago, when catastrophes threatened to erase human cultures entirely, he intervened. He opened a passage and led survivors through — enough to carry a language, a tradition, a way of understanding the world. Those survivors built new civilizations on the other side. Nine of them. Each one seeded from a different moment in Earth’s history, sometimes more than one, each one carrying the magical and spiritual traditions of the culture that founded it.
In these worlds, the old ways still work. The magic that Earth’s cultures practiced, theorized, and eventually abandoned is not gone — it simply followed belief. On Earth, as faith in the old traditions faded, so did their power. In the seeded worlds, this belief never broke. The magic that became myth and folklore on Earth, remained living practices there. A runemaster in Heimrath carves fate into stone and fate listens. A practitioner in Nihara traces the nine syllables of the Kuji-Kiri and the world responds. What we forgot, they kept.
Each world also carries a relic — an object of power that anchors the world’s stability. As long as the relic holds, the world holds. When it doesn’t, things begin to unravel in ways that are slow at first, then catastrophic.
Kane Kurosawa knows none of this. He’s a martial artist from Oakland, a security courier, a student of a dojo in San Francisco’s Japantown. But he’s about to find out.
The Nine Worlds
Book 1 – Nihara — Seeded from Japan’s Jogan Tsunami, 869 CE. A world where the warrior tradition never stopped evolving, and the old ways, preserved, are still practiced, and still hold power.
Book 2 – Heimrath — Seeded from the Volcanic Climate Crisis of 536 CE — a catastrophe that plunged Norse and Germanic Europe into years of darkness. A world where fate is a physical substance and runes cut it to shape.
Books 3-9 – More details to come as the series develops.

Book One: The Demon of Strength
The Nine Cuts – Book 1
Kane Kurosawa has trained his entire life without knowing what he was training for. When a test of skill sends him through a passage between worlds, he arrives in Nihara — a world seeded from Earth’s own history, where a warden has been murdered, an ancient seal is breaking, and something ancient is waking inside the mountain to the north.
